Sustainability

Calderdale Carpets part of the Calder Group is dedicated to promoting sustainability and social responsibility in all aspects of our operations. We prioritise reducing our carbon footprint and environmental impact by continually improving our practices.

Our high-quality yarns are spun and dyed on-site leading to decreased carbon footprint and quicker lead times.

We are very proud of our commitment to provide textiles that meets the needs of today without compromising future generations.

What have we done?

We have increased our sustainability efforts by installing solar panels, motion detection LED lighting, a voltage optimiser and an energy-efficient boiler. Our on-site CHP generates power for the site and uses the waste heat to preheat water for dyeing processes.

Our carpets are made with wool, a sustainable byproduct and recyclable. We prioritise using locally sourced wool whenever possible, as it is more eco-friendly. Waste reduction is also prioritised, by recycling materials like yarn and wool fibres.

We are ISO 14001 and 9001 accredited which showcases our dedication to quality and environmentally responsible practices.

2025 Targets

As part of our 2025 targets, we are installing pressurised package dyeing to minimise water consumption and chemical usage while boosting efficiency.

Additionally, an effluent treatment system is being implemented to recycle up to 90% of our water usage.
